'Tis the Season for Pinterest - Happy New Year

Happy New Year!

New Year's Countdown

Obviously, I have not done this (since today is New Year's Eve) but think it is a fun way to count down the hours (if you stay up that late) to midnight.  You could do it all day (although it might get annoying to try to remember to pop the balloon each and every hour) or just during a party (although if you have small children that you send to bed before midnight, this might not be the best idea).  As you can see I have mixed emotions about this idea.  It may just all stem from my fear of balloons popping.

'Tis the Season for Pinterest - Chick-fil-a Nuggets & Sauce

{Click above for recipe}

{Click above for recipe}

These nuggets & sauce were right on!  They tasted just like the real thing!  They are a bit involved to make but if you are craving Chick-fil-a nuggets and don't want to go out and spend the money or you don't have one close, these are the way to go!  Big thumbs up!

*Note:  I used recipes from 2 different sources since I liked the nuggets from one and the sauce from the other.

'Tis the Season for Pinterest - Coffee Beans & Vanilla Candle

Coffee Beans & Vanilla Candle

This combination was said (per Pinterest people - Pinners, I guess?) to be a "heavenly combination".  If only it worked, I would have agreed.  If you stood directly over the candle, and sniffed deeply, you could smell the "heavenly combination."  As for it permeating my house, it did not work.  I was sorely disappointed and have resorted to my traditional pot on the stove (for a stronger smell put in crockpot on high) of cinnamon sticks, whole allspice and whole cloves (can also add orange slices and/or whole cranberries).  Smells just as good, if not better!

'Tis the Season for Pinterest - Snowman Snack

Merry Christmas!

This is a simple, healthy and cute snack that we made at Elianna's "preschool" party.  The kids gobbled them up not realizing they were eating a healthy snack.  We used chocolate chips for the eyes and raisins for the buttons.  Of course, the most requested ingredient for 2nd's were the chocolate chips.  :-)

'Tis the Season for Pinterest - Zucchini Cakes

{Click above for recipe}

Very different and did not set up very well.  They kinda feel apart a bit but were tasty.

'Tis the Season for Pinterest - Baby Onesie Cupcake

{Click above for tutorial}

This was a fun baby gift to make.  It was especially fun to take them to a new mom and tell her there were cupcakes for her.  Only for her to find out they weren't edible cupcakes but actually a cute little outfit for her.  They were super easy to make.

'Tis the Season for Pinterest - Bacon Strip Pancakes

Bacon Strip Pancakes
{Click above for recipe}

Well, these pancakes definitely fill you up since it takes alot of pancake mix to cover up a strip of bacon.  Huge pancakes with added bacon.  I think we prefer regular size pancakes to these huge bacon filled pancakes.

'Tis the Season for Pinterest - Bathtub Paint

{Click above for instructions}

This bathtub paint is so much better and cheaper than the bathtub paint below.  Elianna had alot of fun "painting" the bathtub.  It's easy to make but, of course, don't let any water into your container or your bathtub paint will be no more.

{Click above for instructions}

This bathtub paint is a bit more on the expensive side since you use baby wash and cornstarch.  Not expensive ingredients but more than shaving cream.  After a few days, this bathtub paint separated and was extremely hard to stir back up.

Out of the two of these bathtub paints, I have to say that the shaving cream bathtub paint is my favorite of the two.

'Tis the Season for Pinterest - Triple Chocolate Chunk Muffin

Triple Chocolate Chunk Muffin
{Click above for recipe}

The muffins were definitely easy to make since you pretty much throw everything into a blender and mix it up that way.  I would definitely blend the oatmeal first instead of all together with the other ingredients.  I also cut the sugar amount in half and the muffins tasted just fine.  They were good and will be made again.

'Tis the Season for Pinterest - Bacon, Egg and Toast Cups

{Click above for recipe}

The bacon did not get near as crispy as we prefer in our household.  It was a bit of a turnoff so the whole cup in and of itself wasn't high on my "like" list.  Sorry Martha.

'Tis the Season for Pinterest - Washcloth Bouquet

{Click above for tutorial}

This was extremely easy to make.  The instructions were a bit intimidating but not nearly as difficult as they sounded.  The bouquet ended up super cute!

'Tis the Season for Pinterest - Apple Chips

{Click above for recipe}

I had the bright idea of using my apple corer and peeler which resulted in thicker cut apple slices.  So in reality, they didn't end up being "chips."  However, Elianna loved them!  So no matter how you look at it - it was a win!

'Tis the Season for Pinterest - Ideas {Father's Day}

Pinterest is the perfect place to find all kinds of ideas for all kinds of things. Birthday parties, gifts and as in the case today, Father's Day. After sifting through a bunch of ideas, I picked ones I liked and made them my own. That's the beauty of Pinterest.

'Tis the Season for Pinterest - Baked Oatmeal

{Click above for recipe}

These were very interesting to make. First of all it makes a ton! After a few days of eating and eating these, I got very tired of them and so the remainder of them went bad. However, if I ever made them again, I would definitely cut the batch in half (and remember to put the milk in them).

'Tis the Season for Pinterest - Baby Doll Diapers & Wipes

{Click above for tutorial}

Pinterest is not only about food although that is probably the majority of items I "pin". Recently I bought a sewing machine off Craig's List and one of the first things I made (with the help of Chris' aunt) was diapers for Elianna's baby dolls. She is going to be super excited and I'm going to be excited that she won't snatch real diapers and wipes and try to use them.

They were pretty easy to make (I made them and I'm not a seamstress). I bought a package of felt pieces from the Dollar Store but since they were pretty thin, I folded them in half and sewed along all of the edges to reinforce them a bit. Instead of the wipe holder the tutorial gives directions for, I am simply going to buy a real wipe holder, empty it of the wipes and let her have a "real" one with "her wipes" in it.

*Update:  Elianna absolutely loves them and has even requested that I make more for the rest of her baby dolls.

'Tis the Season for Pinterest - Thai Turkey Lettuce Wraps

Sissy said:  We have made these at least twice. I did leave out the mint and the fish sauce. And make sure you use Iceburg lettuce. Very easy & super yummy!

'Tis the Season for Pinterest - No Bake Chocolate Chip Granola Bars

{Click above for recipe}

Very easy to make! They were a bit sweet (honey honey honey) so next time I will cut down on the amount of honey used.

'Tis the Season for Pinterest

Have you heard of Pinterest? Become addicted to Pinterest? Here is how the all-knowing Wikipedia.com source describes Pinterest:

Pinterest is a pinboard-style social photo sharing website that allows users to create and manage theme-based image collections such as events, interests, hobbies, and more. Users can browse other pinboards for inspiration, 're-pin' images to their own collections or 'like' photos. Pinterest's mission is to "connect everyone in the world through the 'things' they find interesting" via a global platform of inspiration and idea sharing.

December will be a month of ideas found on Pinterest - Saw It, Pinned It, Tried It, Reviewed It.
