'Tis the Season for Shakes & Smoothies - Avocado Shake

Did you know that an avocado is really a fruit? Me either. The Avocado Shake is a popular shake in the Philippines and Vietnam that is a traditional treat. I love avocados but have only eaten them in savory dishes not sweet so I am excited to try this in the very near future.

Avocado Shake

1 avocado - peeled, pitted and cubed
5 cubes ice
3 tablespoons white sugar
1-1/3 cups milk
1 teaspoon fresh lemon or lime juice
1 scoop vanilla ice cream

Place avocado, ice, sugar, milk, lemon juice and ice cream into a blender. Puree until smooth.

*Avocados are a source of potassium, folic acid, vitamin E, oleic acid and protein
*Half an avocado contains more potassium than in one banana.
*Oleic acid is the fatty acid that is credited to decreasing heart disease and cancer.
